Mathieu Ajan is a filmmaker, photographer & cultural curator
He has collaborated with artists including Sampha, George The Poet & Lola Young, creating visually rich and emotionally grounded projects that bridge film, music, and contemporary culture.
Ajan’s practice explores themes of community, identity, and memory, often reflecting on the nuances of the human experience and the spaces that shape belonging. Through a blend of documentary and poetic storytelling, his work is a tool for cultural preservation and reimagination.
He is also the founder & Artistic Director of Bounce Cinema, a community-driven film organisation dedicated to empowering emerging storytellers and reimagining how audiences experience cinema.
Previously the BFI NETWORK Executive for London, Mathieu commissioned short films and developed early-stage feature films, supporting the next generation of UK filmmakers.
His curatorial and programming work spans collaborations with Netflix, Nike, Tate Modern, Google and the Institute of Contemporary Arts.
As an Executive Producer, his credits include Create Next with John Boyega & Converse which won the BFI London Film Festival short film award.
Mathieu has spoken at leading institutions including Google, Cannes, Microsoft, Sundance Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest, and London Film School, and has moderated in-depth conversations with artists such as Steve McQueen, Barry Jenkins, & Letitia Wright.
